Guess what just Flew In

I know I have mentioned this before , but birds on fabric continue to be a very strong theme . And really they just don't come any more stunning than this one. So many possibilities and never enough time for all the fun ones. We just received this fun fabric and you could sew up such cute projects with it. I love all the different cities, the route 66 and especially the big letters that spell America in blue.

We are sure seeing and can't help but noticing all the words on fabrics of all types . This also has a very retro feel that so many of us love.

It would be wonderful in pajama bottoms with a matching pillow case for a gift. Darn it. I just might have to do that.

New Big Ruffle Flower Purse

We where so excited to have this fun model ready for our Christmas in July last weekend. And I know I have mentioned that ruffles where Every Where at quilt market in May. Big ones , little ones and on clothing , purses , and quilts. We also discovered Kirsten who designed this wonderful purse at one of the local quilt shops in the Salt Lake City Area. We have chosen to feature our new fabrics by Anthology , a relatively new fabric company to the quilt industry.

How do you find some color inspiration?

As I was walking through the farmers market in Napa California on vacation the colors of these flowers really made my heart sing. All those wonderful pinks , little touches of red and white and even that yellow bucket mixed together where inspiring.

When picking fabrics for a quilt , let natures colors provide a color theme , with one color as the star and some colors as accents or think of them as the supporting cast. Not every part in the play is as large as the others and not every fabric in your quilt will be in equal quantity. Nature can be a great source of inspiration for colors in your next quilt.

Easy Peazy Holiday Table runner

Some times do you sew something and it jut turns out better than you could have hoped for? That was how I felt about the table runner that Patt made for our Christmas in July Event last weekend. We could not wait too feature the new Laurel Burch Christmas Fabrics .The two place mats shown were made from left overs from the table runner. Aren't they gorgeous and you to could make these. Christmas Elves at the Calico Huuse

A lot of credit needs to go to the girls who work so hard at the store. I could not do it with out them and we also know that we are so lucky to work in the wonderful world of cotton fabrics . Today we had our first ever Christmas in July and even though it was about 100 degrees outside , inside I could feel our customers excitement and enthusiasm for all the great new projects. Time away for a little rest and relaxation

I promise I am not slacking off , but I did take a little vacation with my husband and friends. We visited wine country and this wonderful french bakery in Yountville CA. They opened at 7 a.m. and the lines started shortly there after. Such a tiny place with such great food. If I lived there I would be there all the time.

We will be putting the finishing touches on our Christmas in July event for this coming Saturday the 16th of July. Hope you can stop by, we have been sewing our hearts out.
