Fall Batik Fun

This beautiful batik in fall colors just arrived and kept calling my name. Some times they do that don't they.
I really do not have a huge stash of batiks, but I am amazed at the intense colors and how they stand the test of time. Even after several years in your stash they are fun to see like old friends.

I am loving the sunflower theme this fall.
These batiks both have the feel of a old world painting.
They are a pleasure to sew with and I had a new pattern I hoped to try out.

I love the log cabin block and this was a fun variation.
It was my first try with an off center chimney.
I will be kitting this table topper soon and sending it out to be quilted.
Thanks for stopping by.

Simply Color by V & Co

One of my favorite booths at Quilt Market was V & Co.

Vanessa Christensen is the V and the C behind this booth and the fabrics shown here where from her Inaugural group, Simply Color for Moda.

Love the ottoman and skirt featuring her fabrics.
And the lovely quilt hanging featuring more of her fabrics.

Her book was featured on the coffee table.

Today we received the layer cakes and the jelly rolls at the store.
Quantities Limited.

Vanessa created this little wall hanging using her fabrics.
Love it.
Check out this link for some info on the pattern for the wall hanging.
This picture and pattern are from Vanessa'a Blog.

Hope to see you soon at the store. Thanks for stoping by.

New Batiks from Hoffman of California

New Batiks just arrived on the bolt and all the new Bali Pops from Hoffman of California too.
We have a great picture of all 6 color ways of the Bali Pops over at our Face Book page.
I hope you will take a peak.
It sure seems like the pace at the store picks up in the fall and in life.
But today I squeezed in a little sewing and tried a new pattern with some of the new batiks.
So far so good. The pattern makes a 94" X 94" quilt.
We are busy checking in new merchandise every day to tempt you. Why not stop at the store soon, we would love to see you.

Bungle Jungle Baby Quilt

Bungle Jungle is a new group of children's fabrics recently released by Moda Fabrics. These samples where from the grey color way that our Moda rep Cheryl showed us.

This is a selection of some of the bolts we received from the entire group. We also have charm packs and 108" wide coordinating fabrics in stock.

I had started this quilt and had to remove several of the blocks that just didn't work. It is okay to go to plan B and some times C.

This is the finished baby quit called ring toss and a big thank you goes out to Jill Hanna, the Quilt Mistress who quilted it for the store.  The back is so fun I chose a wild Dr. Seuss polka dot fabric. Imagine that. Love those dots.

Mama Said Sew

We hope you love these fabrics by Sweetwater for Moda as much as we do. The entire group is called Mama Said Sew and the colors could not be any better for Nebraska.  Black, red and white are the official colors of the University of Nebraska. The pieced project on the left comes from one of our favorite pattern designers, Jaybird Quilts and is called Jawbreaker. All the precuts are in stock and the bolts should be arriving shortly. If you want to be notified when the bolts come in drop us a e-mail at calicohouse@neb.rr.com. You will be the first to know that way.
Thanks for stopping by.
