No tricks just a treat / Quilt show Houston 2012

While attending quilt market in Houston it is always a treat to look at all the quilts they have on display and keep up through Quilt Festival. These are but a small portion and honestly just a few of the ones that pulled at my heart the most.  There are quilts from all over the globe represented and the talent is awe inspiring. The information following the slides belongs to the quilt when I remembered to take the picture. Sleep depravation is a tough thing.  Hope you enjoy this treat for you.

My dreams are filled with dots and hexies

You  can never have to many polka dots right?
My theory is the the more dots the merrier.
These dots have a kind of pearlized finish I have not seen before and I thought they would be nice for the holidays. A little bling, not really over the top.
Cute for skirts or napkins where a little shine is okay.
I will have to play with them at the shop and let you know what we come up with.

This dot fabric just arrived and has great colors that would fit in with many happy children's projects .

Great new book that just released.
Kim Schaffer, the author out did her self with her fabric choices and clean lined quilts.
Well worth taking time to look at.

Just when I was loving the hand sewing on my own little hexagons, this book releases with more options.  I already see hexagon shapes every where. I am telling you they are taking over the quilting world.
I know it's okay, they are fun and the possibilities are endless . Dang it.
Sewing and quilting are in high gear at the shop, why not stop in and peak at all the models.
We would love to see you.

Sometimes you just need to sew.

What beautiful rich colors.
Simple Marks is the newest release by Malka Dubrawsky for Moda.
I love the clean crisp shapes, do you want to see more?
Head over to her blog to see more pictures and to read her thoughts.

We have all of these precuts in stock.
Charm packs, jelly rolls and layer cakes

This small twister quilt top used only 1 charm pack.
They are really fun to make and I bet you can't make just one.
Hope you get to sew soon. Fall is for sewing and quilting.

Fun Quilts we saw at AQS in Des Moines

This quilt was part of the tentmakers of Cairo Exhibit. Truly awe inspiring. They have books and
DVD 's available if you go to Des Moines.
The colors are stunning and they have many themes . I am so over whelmed to have seen them in person.

Many people ask me what to do with the large scale prints. I love the colors of Kaffe Fasset's fabric and loved this small quilt and their use of color in general.
Nice example of using those large prints.

This quilt features Marsha Derse's prints from her first set of fabrics.
I always watch for quilts that features her prints, because I love her fabrics.

From the Japanese Color and Form Exhibit.
Fun use of plaids and color in a very classic pattern.

This was a wonderful quilt, my picture does not do it justice.
I love color and am drawn to it like a moth to a flame.
This is a tiny fraction of the wonderful quilts and I take picture of quilts that intrigue me for various reasons.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you enjoyed this little peek of the AQS show in Des Moines.

Chateau Rouge Fabrics by French General

They take your breath away.

We oohed and awed over these new French General  fabrics for Moda that just arrived. All based on antique rural French textiles.
So easy on the eyes and the soul,
I know quilts made from these fabrics will stand the test of time.

More wonderful Chateau Rouge bolts that are in stock now.

Precuts that are in stock from this group are going fast.
Stop in and pick yours soon.

I took this picture at quilt market to remind me of all the fun quilts you can make with
these red, tan and cream beauties. Are you inspired yet?

Well after many hours of admiring these French reproduction fabrics, I took the leap and sewed up my own quilt. The pattern is by Australian designer, Lynn Wilson. It uses lots of fat quarters and the quilting was done by my friend Jill Hanna ,The Quilt Mistress. Kits are available.  Keep dreaming and finding time for your passion.
