New Abbey Lane Patterns

Lots of fun new patterns have been arriving at the Calico House this week. Hey Jude by Abbey Lane was just one of our favorites from Quilt market. It features Parson Grey by David Butler. And  Hexies, the most important shape this year in quilting.

David was creating fabrics to coordinate with leather and denim with a masculine feel.
We carry his entire collection of quilt weight cottons from is inaugural line. Shown below are just a few of the bolts from this collection.

My favorite new apron pattern form Quilt Market, Mrs Robinson, by Abbey Lane Quilts. It is reversible and it is hard to pick your favorite side.

Just some of the fabrics we have in stock I thought would be perfect to make the Mrs Robinson apron.
Hope you can stop by soon, we have a lot of fun things to share with you. Janeese

A tool to help make your stash smaller.

One of my great finds at Quilt Market was a fun new tool for making quilts called the Flip Flop. The quilt shown above I started while I was demonstrating the tool at our Customer Appreciation day a few weeks ago. It was so fun and easy, I have just kept going.
Don't you think it has a chevron kind of feel?

This scrap quilt was in the booth at Quilt Market where we found the tool.
I just kept thinking you could really use up a lot of your stash and I like scrap quilts.
Sucks you right in doesn't it.

Don't you love this variation, more stash put to good use.
We can get that pile of fabric under control, perseverance is a admirable quality.

Love this colorway and this would make such a great quilt for quilts of valor.
There are 2 sizes of tools ( used in the quilt above) and we have both sizes in stock.
The directions for making the scrap quilt are include with the tool.
I need to admit that I actually finished my quilt top shown,
but my picture was so horrible that I will post a picture after it gets quilted.
Let me know if you want me to save you a tool. We are already on our 2nd batch.
We can always mail one out too.
Thanks for stoping by. Janeese

Mama Said Tasty

Some times you just love a collection of fabrics like the Mama Said Sew shown here. But you just don't know what you want to make. Sweet Water designed these for Moda, and they are just perfect for those of us who live in Nebraska. The University of Nebraska's colors are red, black and white.

Then I found this table runner pattern,Tasty from Jaybird Designs. Hmmmm This time of year small projects are good.

I love it when a project comes together.
It goes off to the quilter tomorrow.

This is another fun Jaybird quilt pattern .
Yes more Hexies. I was pretty excited when they featured the Mama Said Sew fabrics. I see another small or not so small project in my future.
Thank you to all who came for customer appreciation day Saturday.
And hope your weekend was filled with fun projects.

Simply Color Fabrics by V and CO.

This lovely picture of the V and Co.  booth was taken at Quilt Market last spring. Vanessa the designer, was just releasing her first fabric line for Moda, called Simply Color. Love her ottomans made from the  polka dot fabrics.

Vanessa designed this quilt featuring her happy fabrics. The stars are such a great use of her collection.

We have had the precuts for a while, but today the yardage arrived.

Hard to pick your favorite isn't it.

More chevrons and dots. Life is good.
This was such a fun easy quilt featuring her Ombre print.  Vanessa provides a free tutorial on her blog for it. Just give the link below a click.

Yipes stripes

Michael Miller designs and sells wonderful fabrics that just make our world a little brighter.
Their fun stripe above really captured my attention at Quilt Market and I knew we just had to order it for the store.

This adorable dress by Kay Whitt of Serendipity Studios features my favorite stripe fabric. Her booth at Quilt Market was lovely and she writes great directions for sewers of all levels.

Below: Was one of my favorite displays at quilt market using Michael Millers wonderful stripe in the most important shape at market.
Hexies
They where featured through out the entire market. Big ones and tiny ones, you gotta love them.
They are not going away any time soon.
Don't you want the orange type writer on the table below?

Hope you love these posts about market and the new products to watch for.
FYI: Next Saturday is our customer appreciation day, you don't want to miss it.
We have several new models and demos to share with you .
Remember the first 25 people will receive a coupon good for that day.

LIve , Laugh , Love

One of the small pleasures of attending quilt market is discovering new talent and fun ideas.
When I saw these pillows I was excited about their selection of fabrics and choice of colors.
There is nothing currently on the market in this font style for applique I have seen.

And they came all the way from Australia and this was there first time at quilt market.
There is just scary talent out there.
I am so glad these artist are willing to leave home and share there talents with us.

And now you have found them too. Hope you love them, patterns are in stock .
Just let me know and I can save one for you. Quantities limited.
These would be so fantastic in a quilt.
