These new Dimples flannels just arrived. And don't you love all the colors .
They would be great for the backing on baby quilts.

A quick birthday present

I whipped up this hot pad and trivet today for a friends birthday this weekend. The fabrics are from David Butlers new Curious Nature group and I hope will please her. She has a new contemporary home and I have been dyeing to work with these fabrics. I like to use Insulbrite inside my hot pads and I used 2 layers which will make them totally practical and washable. It's a great product and designed just for that purpose, give it a try. It comes on a bolt just like fabric.
Thanks for stopping by.

New Block of the Month with Edyta

Is this just a fabulous, beautiful quilt? Well, we think so to and we are so excited because this will be our new Block of the Month, Over the Rainbow starting in July. Edyta is the creator of this BOM, designer of Laundry Basket patterns and fabrics for Moda. We are taking names and deposits now as quantities are so limited. You will be able to purchase the entire kit in one purchase or participate in our 10 month block of the month. The most amazing part is that all of the appliques will come precut and they will have fusible web on the back. If you would like more details e-mail me or give us a call. And yes all the fabrics are batiks.
Be sure to look at Edyta's blog at http://laundrybasketquilts.com/blog/2012/02/21/over-therainbow/-

Trust your gut.

Our customer was so excited to share her finished quilt made for her sister and her new home.
She loved our quilt on the left, but wanted to make it with the French General Fabrics by Kari Meng for Moda. I think it turned out darling and I love the fabrics and how they look together. This was a great choice for someone who was worried about costs and inexperience.
We spent some time choosing fabrics we loved together and really once it was cut out it would go together very quickly. Remember to trust your gut.
Your first quilt project doesn't have to be a queen size quilt . Start small and work your way up or do a big project and then a smaller project. We have seen some great finished projects from our customers lately , you just need to stay focused.
Thanks for stopping by and keep sewing.

More girls having fun

More fun quilts to share.Wow, our customer Kathy really made our day when she brought in her finished quilt to show us using some of our fabrics she had purchased by Marcia Derse. Marcia has been featured here before and is one of the really exciting new fabric designers. I also love this pattern and have been just sitting on it until the right fabrics come along.
I love her backing, who says it can only be one fabric. Remember there are no quilt police. Go for it.
Then she shared this quilt top she is working on with the left overs. Now aren't you inspired , me to . One idea leads to another and another.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks to Kathy for making our day a little brighter.

Girls just wanna have fun

Our very fun customer Sharon Packard stopped by today and had some fun quilts to share. She is a little short so we had her stand on a chair to take this picture of her King size quilt. She said it is a Judy Neimeyer design and was paper pieced.
The quilting was done by her brother in law who lives in Grand Island and was just wonderful. This quilt is really , really big and heavily quilted.
Next she showed us this wonderful Rose of Sharon quilt. She just could not resist she said because of the name. That's her hiding on the left again. I told you she was short.
And then she pulled out this hand embroidered Santa quilt . Don't you love it. Sharon said the optional layout included using the churn dash blocks. Every one at the store liked her idea of putting some embroidery inside the center of the churn dashes.
So what have you been working on this winter?
Wow , I have been under the weather , but this was totally inspiring and just shows what can get done if we just stick with it.
Thanks for stopping by and thank you Sharon for sharing.
