Its a bird, its a pouf, no it's a Amy Butler Gumdrop Ottoman

Some fabrics talk to you louder than others. I know you have had that experience.  You just have to have some. These lovelies are the new OH Deer by MOMO for Moda  that just arrived.  We have twill weight as well as the regular quilt weight cotton fabrics to choose from.  Look at those dots, I am such a sucker for polka dots. Large and small we love them all.

Carol from the staff sewed this Amy Butler gumdrop ottoman up over the weekend. Her daughter loves it and will be taking it home some day.

We used the twill weight fabrics for the ottoman and Carol stuffed and stuffed it until it was just right.
It took about 11 pounds of stuffing , but isn't it cute. This pattern also includes a child's size ottoman .
Right now with the University starting classes it has been very popular for the dorm rooms.
We can kit one up for you, just let us know how many you want to make.
Thanks for stopping by.

Merry Medley Tree Skirt

We have been sewing lots of new models for the shop. With  many late night hours putting the finishing touches here and there.

The lovely Christmas fabrics above are from Sandy Gervais's new Merry Medley group for Moda. The sheet music fabric is one of my favorites and I can think of so many ideas to feature it.

Over the weekend I sewed the binding on this tree skirt. Thank you to Mary Dittenber who quilted it for me and Patt from the staff who did the machine applique.
Kits are available.

Yesterday this wonderful group of fall fabrics arrived . We love all the fall colors and  every one working wanted some. Carol said she wanted to make a new apron.

We quickly whipped up this little table runner.
Kits are available.
Stop by the store and see all the new models. It is looking a lot like Fall and Christmas around here.

We've gone wild for Bungle Jungle.

When our Moda rep, Cheryl presented these samples of Bungle Jungle, it was love at first sight.
We just had to have them.
Such bright fun colors and Safari has been such a popular theme for nurseries this year.
Elephants and giraffes have been especially popular.

I needed to get a plan.
I stacked these bolts up and looked through all the books and had decided on an idea.

Saturday I started cutting an sewing a few blocks.

And while I was working at the store Saturday one of our customers came in with her quilt top made using the Bungle Jungle fabrics. She had bought them earlier in the week with the help of Sandy on staff.  It is so cute, we just love it. Happy Happy
Hope you are sewing some fun things this weekend.
Stop in soon, we would love to see you.

Holiday Inspiration

We have been busy this week at the shop.
Several models have been sewn by our staff, including the fun table runner above.
Kits are available.

Today our UPS man brought in big boxes of new fabrics.
So we thought we would share some pictures of a few new Holiday fabrics that came in.

All of these would make great holiday table runners .

My mind is swimming in fun ideas.

You just need to stop at the store and see all the new fabrics and ideas.
Hope to see you soon.

Chateau Rouge Precuts by French General

Chateau Rouge by French General for Moda was inspired by an old brick chateau in the small town of St. Remy, France that was built in 1789.

We received all the precuts today, layer cakes, charm packs and jelly rolls. These pictures are just a sampling of the wonderful contents of the precuts.
The bolts usually arrive about 30 days after the precuts.

While watching the Olympics I have been sewing these little english paper pieced hexagons using some scraps of French General fabrics from a much larger quilt that is in the works.

I can't wait to incorporate these new French General fabrics into my little hexies. Be sure to reserve yours soon. Thanks for stopping by.

Merry Medley by Sandy Gervais

We just received these Moda Christmas Fabrics, Merry Medley by Sandy Gervais. I love the top fabric with the poinsettia's and could not wait to start a new project.

First I  made some strata, which is just several strips all sewn together.  It was fun to add a few pieces of the French General fabrics to my strata.

Then I cut out a paper pattern from some freezer paper. It comes in wide large rolls and is easy to work with.  Time to cut it out.

Step one accomplished. Now I just need to make several more assorted strata's. And several more of these. I will keep you posted on my progress. My co-worker Patt is sewing some machine applique for me. She is much faster and accurate. Can you tell what I am making?

Just another picture of the bolts we have in stock. Are you feeling inspired?
Thanks for stopping by.
