Fun Summer classes

This last week for 4 days we had our Quilt Camp.

Our Goal is for the children to go home with a finished quilt.

Jamie one of the instructors is hard at work cutting and cutting on the first day.

We have 2 iron imprints on our carpet from classes so we now include

 a short talk about iron etiquette. 

Tenley worked really hard and on day 4 below was adding her

borders.

PIn, pin, and pin some more.

Carol from the staff pitched in and help with the final trim.

Jean is down on her knees, oh so close to the finish. 

Tah Dah. 

A good time was had by all.

It is just as much fun for us to see the fabrics chosen .

If you are looking to improve your machine quilting skills we still have

 adult classes available in July.

There is a learn the basics class and beyond the basics machine quilting class. 

All those quilt tops you have need quilted why not give a class a try. 

You bring your own machine and will need a darning foot.

New exciting fabrics and models to share.

 

                  It has been a very busy week at the store. With Patt checking in box
                 after box of new fabrics. It is always fun to open the boxes and see what has arrived.

                 And the Simply Style precuts by V and Co for Moda (on the left above) are just a few
                 to tempt you to stop by. The precut Honey combs are a recent addition to the precut mix.
                We also have 2 new hexagon rulers that will help you cut several sizes of hexagons.  I need        one of each. Hexagons just continue to very popular in lots of  sewing projects.  
                  Patt from the staff just finished the small table toper ( bottom right) and said it was quick and fun. Fabrics and patterns are in stock.
                   The Fast Fat Quarter Quilts book also just arrived and I noticed how the colors on the cover coordinated with our new fabrics.      

This is a close up of the top fabric in the precuts of the Simply Style collection. 

Love it.

As always the bolts will not arrive for about 30 days, but the precuts are usually sold out by then.

New Embroidery projects for Summer Fun.

One of our favorite finds at Quilt Market included some  patterns  for hand embroidery.
These are just some of the new patterns that arrived this week at the Calico House.
I know its hard to see but on the upper right are embroidered cats , one for each month of the year.
My favorite is the cat eating watermelon.
Embroidery is so portable and fun to take with you on summer vacation.
We are always happy to ship our products .

Full Moon Lagoon fabrics for Summer

Let me introduce you to Mo Bedell,  one of the newest designers and

 her premiere  Full Moon Lagoon collection shown here, released through Andover fabrics. 

This was one of my favorite booths at quilt market in Portland, Oregon.

What a fresh set of colors that would lift any day to a brighter happier place. 

She also won an award for her booth as a first time exhibitor .

This lovely collection of pillows in Mo's booth featured linen with her prints. 

Linen is a very important new element of many quilts, pillows and projects. 

The pictures here are of all my favorites and I knew I needed to share them with you. 

Seahorses, Jelly fish, and sand dollars combined  that 

takes you away to the sea shore.
