Today is the beginning of our fun sew along, where we share a pattern
and what our staff loves about their neighborhoods.
Theresa is first up with building permit number 1.

This is what she chose to share.
We are truly blessed with a great neighborhood. Our neighborhood is a mix of young families and a few of us older folks. It is truly a delight to see so many children on the block. The young families are amazing! For the past two years they have organized a summer block party, complete with bounce house, water balloons, and games like dinosaur hunting in ice cubes. Did I mention the great pot luck? Truly, our neighborhood is truly a supportive community. For example, someone will make sure an elderly resident will have a clean sidewalk after a snowstorm. People greet each other and are welcoming. Some have taken down their fences so their children have more room to play, explore and enjoy their friends. Reminds me of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood: " I've always wanted to have a neighbor just like you! So lets make the most of this beautiful day, since we're together we might as well stay, won't you be my neighbor?"
We also asked them to share with you a family or favorite recipe.
Basic Cheesecake
Crust: one package of graham crackers crushed. Combine with 3 Tbsp. soft butter and press in spring foam pan. (spray pan with pam)
Filling: one 15 oz. tub low-fat ricotta chees, three 8oz. fat-free cream cheese, one cup Greek vanilla yogurt, five eggs, 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract, 1 1/4 cups of sucralose (or sugar). Place all in food processor and blend until smooth.
Bake at 350 degrees or 325 in convection oven for one hour and twenty minutes or until middle is firm. Test with a knife to
see if it comes out clean.
May top as desired. Fresh berries or lite cherry pie filling and whipped cream. Enjoy!

Helpful Hint: When sewing pieces that ask you to stitch on the diagonal line you have drawn, we find greater success when you stitch ever so slightly inside the line as shown here. When you press, the fold will end up on the line. You will be much happier with your results.
Be sure to post your finished blocks on either #chneighborhood or #ModaBeMyNeighbor
OR post to our Facebook.
